Dhammapada 129
In Dhammapada, Buddha said “everybody fears violence. You cannot hit someone or be a cause of it.
Russia is repeatedly attacking Ukraine and We see people fighting for their country and world being divided on TV every day.
There are not many things that I can do as a person for people fighting on the field or world peace, but I think prayer is not enough.
What I can do now is to learn about history and issues they have, and take the matter as my own problem, not being numb about this, then take right actions.
This time, I made donation from Horai temple to the relief fund for Ukraine through embassy.
I hope it will be used for humanitarian support.
In the book called Shobogenzo written by the founder of Japanese Soto-Zen, Dogen-zenji, He introduced Rigyo as one of the deeds which helps all creatures. (Rigyo means not separating others and yourself and trying to see the world as a whole. Take actions for others and not expect something in return.)
I sincerely hope that this war will be resolved peacefully as soon as possible.
